Imagine the hurricane has finally moved on. The skies are clearing, but your property is dealing with water intrusion, roof damage, power issues, broken equipment, and residents who need answers. Suddenly, you’re making critical decisions under pressure, and the people you need to call may not be as easy to find as you hoped.

Preparedness is about making those decisions easier before that moment arrives. That was the focus of The Operators’ Guide to Hurricane Preparedness, held August 13, 2026, where GlobalPro brought CAMs and experienced South Florida professionals together for practical conversations about preparing for the realities of a major storm.
Hurricane preparedness is often associated with insurance policies, emergency supplies, or evacuation plans. Those are important, but true preparedness goes further. It means protecting people, securing property, maintaining critical operations, minimizing downtime, and having trusted resources ready when they are needed most.
The event was built around practical knowledge from professionals who have spent decades working with buildings and communities through some of the most challenging conditions South Florida has faced. From Hurricane Andrew to the major storms that followed, these professionals have seen firsthand what happens when a property is not prepared, and what can happen when the right systems, people, and plans are already in place.

Featured panelists included Diana Ollert of Best Roofing, Alex Bocaranda of SMI (Security Management Operations), Bobby Gibson of MOD Pros Elevators, Edwin Lugo of Alfresco Air, and Justin Mila of Hotwire Communications.
Each brought a different perspective to the conversation, covering critical areas of property resilience including roofing, security, elevators, HVAC systems, communications, and operational preparedness.
Together, their perspectives reinforced an important point: a property’s recovery does not depend on one system or one professional. It depends on how well everything works together.
After a major hurricane, property managers can quickly find themselves balancing multiple priorities at once.
Residents need information. Buildings need to be secured. Damage needs to be assessed. Emergency vendors need to be coordinated. Critical systems may need immediate attention. And decisions about recovery have to begin while the full extent of the damage may still be unclear.
This is where preparation becomes more than a checklist. The goal isn’t to predict exactly what will happen. The goal is to be ready for the possibilities.
One of the most valuable parts of the event was the opportunity to bring professionals from different areas of property operations into one conversation.

GlobalPro’s own Matt Sengsourinh, President of GlobalPro Florida, joined Manny Pozo, President of BioResponse Restoration, in helping bring the program together and create an environment where CAMs could ask questions, exchange experiences, and learn directly from professionals working in the field.
The event also provided a CEU-accredited educational component, giving attendees an opportunity to turn the conversation into practical knowledge they can bring back to their communities.
Every property is different. Every community has different risks, building systems, residents, vendors, and operational challenges. A high-rise may face very different concerns than a gated community, just as a property with complex HVAC or elevator systems may require a different response strategy.
But the principle remains the same: The more prepared you are before the storm, the more informed you can be when the storm is over.

Since 2012, GlobalPro has remained committed to helping homeowners, businesses, and communities understand risk, prepare for loss, and navigate the road to recovery. Events like The Operators’ Guide to Hurricane Preparedness are an extension of that commitment—bringing people together, sharing experience, and helping communities build the confidence to respond when it matters most.
