As hurricane season approaches each year, conversations surrounding preparedness, resiliency, and recovery become more important for communities across South Florida. That focus remained at the center of the second annual Board Room to the Storm Room Hurricane Preparedness Forum, an event that once again brought together residents, condo leaders, emergency management professionals, restoration experts, and industry specialists for meaningful discussions surrounding storm readiness and long-term community resilience.
Now in its second year, the forum continues growing as an important space where industry professionals and local communities can connect, exchange insights, and better understand the realities of preparing for major storm events before they happen.
This year’s program featured discussions surrounding hurricane preparedness planning, flood mitigation strategies, insurance considerations, restoration processes, emergency response coordination, and post-storm recovery planning. Attendees gained practical guidance on topics ranging from evacuation procedures and emergency supply preparation to navigating insurance challenges and protecting residential and commercial properties before and after a disaster.
One of the event’s strongest takeaways centered around the importance of proactive planning. Across every panel discussion, speakers emphasized that preparation before a storm can significantly influence recovery outcomes afterward. Whether discussing roofing systems, impact protection, restoration timelines, engineering concerns, or insurance recovery, the message remained consistent: informed communities are often better positioned to respond and recover when disaster strikes.
The forum featured an experienced panel of professionals representing multiple sectors connected to storm preparedness and recovery, including insurance, restoration, engineering, legal, roofing, and property protection services. Featured panelists and participating organizations included representatives from USI Insurance, GlobalPro, Impact Glass, EmpireWorks, Siegfried Rivera, Water Restoration Group, Falcon Group, and Best Roofing.

Among the featured speakers was Daniel Odess, CEO & Founder of GlobalPro, who shared insights surrounding preparedness, recovery planning, claims advocacy, and the importance of understanding the recovery process before a disaster occurs. Since 2012, GlobalPro has continued helping communities, property owners, and associations navigate complex recovery situations through preparedness strategies, claims support, and recovery-focused guidance.
Beyond the presentations themselves, the event also highlighted the value of community collaboration. Residents and attendees had opportunities to engage directly with industry experts, ask questions, and connect with organizations offering preparedness resources and support services designed to strengthen resilience throughout the City of Miami and surrounding communities.
As severe weather risks, insurance challenges, and recovery complexities continue evolving, programs like Board Room to the Storm Room serve as an important reminder that preparedness is not simply about reacting to storms — it is about building stronger, more informed, and more resilient communities long before disaster arrives.
The continued growth of the program reflects the increasing importance of proactive education and industry collaboration in helping communities better prepare for hurricane season and recover stronger afterward.
Special thanks to all sponsors, speakers, partners, and attendees who helped make this year’s event a success and contributed to ongoing conversations focused on preparedness, resilience, and community recovery.
